32" Superb French Bisque Brown-eyed Bebe

32" (81 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with
very full lower cheeks, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick black
eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked brows,
accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth with slightly wistful
expression, defined space between the pale accented lips, separately applied
pierced ears, delicate blushing on ears, chin and cheeks, brunette human
hand-tied wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed
body with plump limbs and straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent.
Marks: 15 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau,
his signature model known as "Triste" in reference to wistful
expression, sculpted for Jumeau by illustrious French artist
Carrier-Belleuse. Value Points: superb large model of the rare doll has
exemplary bisque, complexion, sculpting and painting, outstanding antique
costume.
